Camp Shalom: OPT's Summer Day Camp
Oak Park’s only Jewish Day Camp for elementary grade students
Camp Shalom is a high-quality Jewish day camp program for children entering 1st through 6th grades. It is a full day of camp five days per week. Based on Judaic values and fun summer activities, Camp Shalom is all about Jewish identity, inclusion and community.
Drop campers off at 9:00am at Oak Park Temple, 1235 N. Harlem, and pick campers up at Oak Park Temple at 4:00. 7:45 early drop off is available.
There are four weeks of Camp Shalom beginning July 1 and ending July 26.

NEW THIS YEAR
- This year we are refocusing Camp Shalom as a uniquely Jewish day camp. The camp day will be enjoyed through a Jewish lens.
- Daily programs will include Jewish music, Hebrew vocabulary, tzedakah/mitzvah (charity or social justice) projects, theater with a Jewish twist, theme days and sports activities.
- Campers will participate in weekly swim lessons at Foss Swim School for either two or three days per week and one open swim session with counselors at a different pool (not Foss) each week. Bus service to and from the pools is provided by Camp Shalom.
- Special mitzvah projects will replace field trips. Campers will work on long term projects which culminate with an on-site visit to the organization.
- Camp Shalom’s world famous theatrical productions will continue this summer with plays featuring Jewish characters, Jewish music, Jewish themes and Jewish stories.
- Campers bring lunches Monday through Thursday. All lunches are refrigerated. On Fridays we provide lunch.
- Each camper receives a camp t-shirt.
- Excellent (very low) counselor to camper ratio makes Camp Shalom fun and safe for everyone.
- Daily visits to Field Center park at Mann School for outdoor games and activities.
- Camp Shalom runs from July 1 through July 26. Monday through Friday, 9:00-4:00. No camp on July 4, tuition is pro-rated for week of July 4.
