Deportation Defense Training

Homeland Security announced:

  • ICE agents arrested 156 undocumented immigrants from Chicagoland area over a six-day period
  • DHS called this the latest sweep to target “sanctuary city” jurisdictions - Chicago and Cook County
  • ICE said the targets of the operations included people with criminal records and "collateral arrests" or undocumented people who were in the vicinity of the operation - families, co-workers, neighbors etc. This is a reversal from the Obama administration's second term policy which had carved most non-criminal undocumented immigrants out of danger of deportation.

Deportation Defense Trainings— The Resurrection Project has graciously offered to lead trainings to help us gain a deeper understanding of some of the challenges faced by those without documentation in general, and the processes around arrest, detention and deportation in particular. In addition, the session will address how we can be effective allies and stand with undocumented workers and families in this challenging environment.
